Spent 4 nights in the hotel with parents (booked two Superior Rooms, got them on the 5th floor). It's a nice, historic, cosy hotel, ideal for those who do not want to be close to noisy parts of Rome. At the same time, Termini station, the main hub for trains (including from airports), metro, buses and trams, is just 500m walking distance. The staff is very nice, especially Mica and Franco, always helpful. ROOMS Booked two Superior Rooms - and they looked like on the photos on the website. The rooms were clean, we liked their décor. The Superior Room for 1 person had a rather small shower but it was not a problem for me. The Superior Room for double occupancy had a more spacious shower. Both rooms had AC that can be set individually. Rooms were cleaned every day. AREA Several Italian bistros and ristorantes, nearby a patisserie and a number of mini markets selling grocery staff as well as tourists gifts. Nearby you can find several bus stops that can take you close to Di Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navano, etc. Also, Termini Station is like 500m walking distance, which makes movement around Rome easy. SAFETY We felt safe in the hotel, the neighbourhood is much better than the close vicinity of Termini Station. The hotel has a 24/7 reception so nobody can walk in without notice. Also, room keys need to be left at the reception when leaving the hotel which we liked because staff had to hand over the keys upon return and random people walking in would be noticed. CATERING For lunches and dinners we ate outside so we tried only the hotel breakfasts. They are fine, for Rome standards are rich. Toast bread, small burgers, focaccia, eggs, bacon, beans, cold cuts, hard cheese, fruits and veggie, milk, juices, sweet cakes, white yoghurt, pancakes etc. The restaurant is on the rooftop terrace of the hotel, it can be open but has AC if closed.

The receptionist who we dealt with the most( Mika? I think her name was) was excellent:) She was very helpful in helping us navigate our daily excursions and was able to secure tickets for us for the Vatican, Forum and Colosseum on short notice. The breakfasts were amazing. I was expecting a small selection of coffee and pastries, but the spread every morning was fabulous! Delicious coffee, fresh juices, eggs prepared in different ways, sausages, bacon, toast, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, an assortment of cheese and cold cuts and sweets as well. This area had a great view(top floor) and tuned into a welcoming roof top bar in the evenings. Walking distance to train/bus and many site seeing venues were a bonus. The room was very spacious, clean, and the windows opened up to an inner courtyard. Our room had a spa soaker tub( recommended) which came in very handy after our long flight and walking all day.

If you find this spot book it! its away from all the noise and great value ! We stayed 3 nights to end our Italy tour before flying out. We had everything we needed here and it was super safe area and quiet in a city that is very loud in some hotel areas. We loved the breakfast and it was really nice to know the roof top was open all night if you wanted to sit up there for a full city view at night! We loved this place as it was a perfect way to end the trip ! we got a cab to the airport organized by the hotel and we were about 45 min away. Super smooth exit place if you need to fly out from Rome.

Hotel Montecarlo was a great stay, Franco was welcoming and greeting me and Mother very well! He was so helpful on the desk and even sorted our room out in a heartbeat! Breakfast was included in the room I booked, and the woman Emily was also very good and welcoming on both mornings. we went to the rooftop bar! With arriving late, we had to eat on the rooftop bar on arrival the menu was cheap and the food was great! It is close to the Metro and a supermarket and even had a mini market directly opposite the hotel incase you need anything really enjoyed the stay would stay again They also take your hotel key card when you leave so no need to worry about losing the room key Great stay

Overall a very enjoyable stay we booked one of the terrace rooms on floor 6 a good size very comfortable, we both slept well and room was quiet. Breakfast for us more than adequate and the staff friendly and worked extremely hard. Location is great for the train station but it's a good hour walk to Vatican city. Taxi prices vary as on meters so be careful. We don't mind walking so not a real issue for us. Great eating choices near the hotel in fairness we did not try the rooftop other than for drinks . The people who were eating mentioned food was good. The set up of rooms is interesting it appeared on the second staircase floors 1-5 are private residences I didn't see that mentioned anywhere when reviewing the hotel before we booked.

Staff at reception A+, super friendly and informative, Staff at restaurant A+, again super friendly and informative. We had a lovely chat with the lady who took our order. Breakfast was lovely, being Irish it was a bit strange to see sweet cakes for breakfast with it was all part of the European experience, room was lovely, very comfortable and clean and spacious bathroom. Location was also good, nice walk to main attractions but not so far that it was an issue, every building you pass is an attraction in itself so it definitely did not feel like we were far from anything.

The roof top bar was definitely a bonus. The breakfast was very good. The reception staff were as a whole extremely helpful. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and our rooms were very clean. Fabulous location in Rome with lots of bars and restaurants. Easy access to the metro and all the sights.

The staff were amazing, always smiling, always helpful, and very warm. The breakfast had enough options for everyone, and I had dinner at the rooftop once, the price was reasonable and the food was delicious. The room's cleanliness was quite good, normally showers always look dirty even though they are clean, but here, everything was looking clean and indeed they were clean!

The hotel room was basic and quite small but very clean and inviting. I absolutely loved the historic parts of the hotel like the old lift renovated with modern glass, I loved the mosaic floors and the walls of the room were in an old style material, not wallpaper. I found that lovely. The staff were extremely brilliant, knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast was very nice. A nice garden room at the top for breakfast - it's lovely to sit outside. The bathroom had a strange plastic spray feature but I was too scared to use it - it seems a bit over the top for such a small room.

Traditional, but with a modern twist. The roof terrace was gorgeous such a lovely spot for brekkie and a cocktail in the evenings. The food was really good, we loved brekkie every day there was a great selection of food. The shower was hot, plenty of towels, no grumbles there. One of the best things about this place were the staff. Mica on reception was nothing short of a legend! Such a character, charming funny and helpful. Something leaked in our case on the way there and she sorted us out with a local laundrette, nothing was too much trouble. Emmanuel was also lovely, really helpful. Also need to mention the young blonde polish lady who worked in the bar in the evenings, she was so much fun, making sure we liked our drinks and just great to chat to. You’ll be made to feel very welcome here
