Spent 4 nights in the hotel with parents (booked two Superior Rooms, got them on the 5th floor). It's a nice, historic, cosy hotel, ideal for those who do not want to be close to noisy parts of Rome. At the same time, Termini station, the main hub for trains (including from airports), metro, buses and trams, is just 500m walking distance. The staff is very nice, especially Mica and Franco, always helpful. ROOMS Booked two Superior Rooms - and they looked like on the photos on the website. The rooms were clean, we liked their décor. The Superior Room for 1 person had a rather small shower but it was not a problem for me. The Superior Room for double occupancy had a more spacious shower. Both rooms had AC that can be set individually. Rooms were cleaned every day. AREA Several Italian bistros and ristorantes, nearby a patisserie and a number of mini markets selling grocery staff as well as tourists gifts. Nearby you can find several bus stops that can take you close to Di Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navano, etc. Also, Termini Station is like 500m walking distance, which makes movement around Rome easy. SAFETY We felt safe in the hotel, the neighbourhood is much better than the close vicinity of Termini Station. The hotel has a 24/7 reception so nobody can walk in without notice. Also, room keys need to be left at the reception when leaving the hotel which we liked because staff had to hand over the keys upon return and random people walking in would be noticed. CATERING For lunches and dinners we ate outside so we tried only the hotel breakfasts. They are fine, for Rome standards are rich. Toast bread, small burgers, focaccia, eggs, bacon, beans, cold cuts, hard cheese, fruits and veggie, milk, juices, sweet cakes, white yoghurt, pancakes etc. The restaurant is on the rooftop terrace of the hotel, it can be open but has AC if closed.

The receptionist who we dealt with the most( Mika? I think her name was) was excellent:) She was very helpful in helping us navigate our daily excursions and was able to secure tickets for us for the Vatican, Forum and Colosseum on short notice. The breakfasts were amazing. I was expecting a small selection of coffee and pastries, but the spread every morning was fabulous! Delicious coffee, fresh juices, eggs prepared in different ways, sausages, bacon, toast, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, an assortment of cheese and cold cuts and sweets as well. This area had a great view(top floor) and tuned into a welcoming roof top bar in the evenings. Walking distance to train/bus and many site seeing venues were a bonus. The room was very spacious, clean, and the windows opened up to an inner courtyard. Our room had a spa soaker tub( recommended) which came in very handy after our long flight and walking all day.

Traditional, but with a modern twist. The roof terrace was gorgeous such a lovely spot for brekkie and a cocktail in the evenings. The food was really good, we loved brekkie every day there was a great selection of food. The shower was hot, plenty of towels, no grumbles there. One of the best things about this place were the staff. Mica on reception was nothing short of a legend! Such a character, charming funny and helpful. Something leaked in our case on the way there and she sorted us out with a local laundrette, nothing was too much trouble. Emmanuel was also lovely, really helpful. Also need to mention the young blonde polish lady who worked in the bar in the evenings, she was so much fun, making sure we liked our drinks and just great to chat to. You’ll be made to feel very welcome here

Overall a very enjoyable stay we booked one of the terrace rooms on floor 6 a good size very comfortable, we both slept well and room was quiet. Breakfast for us more than adequate and the staff friendly and worked extremely hard. Location is great for the train station but it's a good hour walk to Vatican city. Taxi prices vary as on meters so be careful. We don't mind walking so not a real issue for us. Great eating choices near the hotel in fairness we did not try the rooftop other than for drinks . The people who were eating mentioned food was good. The set up of rooms is interesting it appeared on the second staircase floors 1-5 are private residences I didn't see that mentioned anywhere when reviewing the hotel before we booked.

Hotel Montecarlo was a great stay, Franco was welcoming and greeting me and Mother very well! He was so helpful on the desk and even sorted our room out in a heartbeat! Breakfast was included in the room I booked, and the woman Emily was also very good and welcoming on both mornings. we went to the rooftop bar! With arriving late, we had to eat on the rooftop bar on arrival the menu was cheap and the food was great! It is close to the Metro and a supermarket and even had a mini market directly opposite the hotel incase you need anything really enjoyed the stay would stay again They also take your hotel key card when you leave so no need to worry about losing the room key Great stay
